BASCA Gold Badge Awards
Gold Badge AwardsThe BASCA Gold Badge Awards celebrate inspirational individuals who support the UK songwriting and composing community. The awards recognise their outstanding contributions to the worlds of jazz, contemporary, classical, film & television music, and songwriting. The Gold Badge Awards were established in 1974 by BASCA and previous recipients include a host of big names from the industry. BASCA (the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) is an independent professional association representing music writers in all genres, from songwriting, through to media, contemporary classical and jazz.
Previously recipients of the Gold Badge Awards have received a framed certificate and a gold tuning fork lapel badge. For 2017 BASCA decided that they would like to progress to giving a physical award. Given the long history of the event it was crucial to make a feature of the awards branding, logo, and identity to keep continuity. Gold was also an element that needed to be included. The final design selected is stylish and sophisticated. It makes a strong feature of the event logo in metallic gold acrylic on a clear acrylic backing on a brushed aluminium base featuring the recipient’s details.
This year’s Gold Badge recipients are 12 exceptional talents of the songwriting and composing community, including Emeli Sandé MBE, Martyn Ware, and Gary Crosby OBE. Each and every winner is a game changer in their industry and has made a lasting contribution to the community.
The 44th BASCA Gold Badge Awards took place on Monday 2nd October 2017 at The Savoy in London.
