Award Spotlight: Ferdinand Floodlit Cup

Grassroots football is about more than what happens on the pitch. It builds confidence and creates a sense of belonging and purpose to players. The Ferdinand Floodlit Cup embraces that spirit, creating an exciting and positive experience for young players from London and beyond.

Hosted by the Ferdinand Collective, founded by Julian Ferdinand, father of former England internationals Rio and Anton Ferdinand, the tournament puts community at its heart. The approach to football embraces the excitement of the game while turning that energy into teamwork, opportunity and shared experience.

The trophies needed to capture that same momentum. Rather than feeling like traditional football trophies, the brief called for something contemporary and distinctive in a way that would complement the tournament’s strong visual identity.

Alongside the trophies, the Gaudio team also created matching medals.

We produced the finished Ferdinand Floodlit Cup trophies in two sizes, using profiled aluminium to create their distinctive shape. We profile metal in-house, which lets us cut the aluminium to a specific outline to make the ultimate branded trophy.

At 25mm thick, the construction of this trophy gives it considerable weight in both sizes, and a premium feel when picked up. The freestanding design means there’s no base, which lets the shape and graphics become the focus of the award.

We polished the aluminium for a premium, highly reflective surface finish.  A mirror silver acrylic facia adds a depth to the front of the trophy. The red print adds energy against the metal, with a finished product that feels closely connected to the tournament’s branding.
