Gaudio Manufactures Radio 1 Teen Awards

Gaudio was excited and honoured to have the opportunity to create the awards for the Radio 1 Teen Awards for the third year in a row. This annual awards ceremony celebrates the brave, selfless and exceptional achievements of young people aged between 12 and 17. The high profile event featured performances from Little Mix, Niall Horan and Taylor Swift amongst others, with awards including ‘Best TV Show’, ‘Best British Group’, ‘Best Solo Artist’ and ‘Best Single’. The winners of the awards were voted for by Radio 1 listeners.

The highlight of the event are the awards for the Teen Heroes who have been able to help others despite exceptional and difficult circumstances in their own lives. These include 15-year-old Lewis who has spent much of his life in and out of hospital due to a brain tumour, but has set up a social platform for ill and disabled young children; 15-year-old Niamh suffers from an autoimmune condition that has left her paralysed but she continues to raise awareness of her condition through her blog, as well as running her own online support group for young people with chronic illnesses. Joe & Toby from Suffolk have raised thousands between them for Cancer Research UK after their best friend, Arran, passed away from a brain tumour, and the winners of the first ‘Make it Digital’ Teen Hero award were Lucy & Lauren, whose idea for a lightweight medical emergency kit has put into effect in the military field.

The awards, designed and manufactured by Gaudio, are weighty, free-standing, brushed aluminium discs topped with printed acrylic with the Radio 1 logo cut out. The awards are redesigned every to reflect the branding of the event, which also changes every year, and Gaudio works closely with the team behind the Radio 1 Teen Awards to produce an award which is on brand and on budget.
