GPI American Poker Awards

Thursday saw a night of games and glamour for those at the top of the Global Poker Index. The best players in the world congregated for the fourth annual GPI American Poker Awards, hosted by Pokerstars.

Two award recipients were guaranteed a trophy on the night. Bryn Kenney and Kristen Bicknell scored top points on the Global Poker Index in 2017.

Bryn Kenney was named GPI Male Player of the Year 2017, with a 14-week run at the top spot of the GPI World Rankings. He is joined by Kristen Bicknell, GPI Female Player of the Year 2017, who was nominated for an American Poker Award last year.

The event was hosted by Lynn Gilmartin, anchor and producer, who has been active in the poker industry for over 10 years. Held in the Andaz West Hollywood in California, it was a record-breaking year for the GPI American Poker Awards. This year had more categories than ever and 102 nomination panel members, consisting of ‘industry leaders, accomplished poker players, and media members’*.

The twenty categories covered all areas of the industry, including Charitable Event of the year, won by One Step Closer Foundation.

Hand Over the Award!

This award strikes a familiar silhouette, incorporating the Global Poker Index logo, seen on their website and at events. The distinct branding makes for a sleek, sophisticated award. The design uses polished aluminium, profiling the logo against a contrasting acrylic piece.

The final award sits on a tiered aluminium base. A tiered base is an excellent way to space out engraved details, including names and award titles.
