But how exactly does a 3D printed trophy move from an initial digital concept to a polished stage-ready award? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our innovative process.

Step 1: Designing Your Vision in 3D

The journey to creating an exceptional 3D printed trophy begins long before the printer starts whirring.

Our in-house designers translate your brief into a striking custom trophy design that perfectly captures your brand and event’s identity. We send a detailed 3D render as part of your quote, giving you a crystal-clear idea of how your award will look. Once you give us the green light, we use cutting-edge modelling software to refine every single curve, edge, and internal structure. Here, we take the time to ensure your 3D printed trophy doesn’t just look incredible, but is also structurally sound and will stand proudly on stage.

Step 2: Preparing for Print

As the saying goes, if you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail! This stage is all about laying the groundwork for a flawless print.

We take your approved design file and convert it into a format our 3D printer can interpret. We thoroughly check and clean the printer to ensure it performs at its best, before running a full digital simulation of the print. This allows us to anticipate any potential challenges that we may face and place temporary structural supports if needed. These are vital for ensuring that trophies with complex geometrics and intricate details hold their shape perfectly throughout the build.

Step 3: Bringing Your Trophy to Life

This is the moment when your design starts to become a real, physical trophy.

The 3D printer constructs your trophy in ultra-fine layers, gradually transforming our digital concept into a tangible object. This process can take several hours, depending on the scale and complexity of the trophy design – but it’s a process that can’t be rushed to give your award the strength, precision, and flawless finish it deserves.

Step 4: Perfecting the Form

Your trophy is now fresh from the printer and is structurally complete. But it doesn’t yet have the polish that transforms it into a truly premium award.

We remove the temporary supports and clean the trophy’s surface to get rid of any residual material. We then carefully sand and file it by hand to achieve a smooth, flawless surface that is ready for finishing.

Step 5: Premium Finishing

A 3D printed trophy rarely leaves our workshop in its raw state. That’s because the true magic of these trophies lies in the finishing.

We offer a range of finishing options that are designed to enhance the depth and visual impact of your trophy, including painting, laser cutting, and plating. We can precisely match each colour to your brand guidelines, finished with metallic coatings or matte finishes to create a truly showstopping award that’s worthy of the moment it represents.

Step 6: Assembling Your Award

This stage is where the 3D printed component becomes part of the complete trophy build and transforms it into a meaningful, personal symbol of achievement.

For example, we may mount your 3D printed component onto a precision-crafted base, or combine it with other premium materials to achieve the desired balance and weight. Each piece is assembled by hand in our UK workshop, giving us complete control over the quality and consistency of every order. We then add personalisation (winners’ names, category titles, and sponsor logos) through engraving or print.

Step 7: Final Checks

Every 3D printed trophy undergoes rigorous inspection before it’s allowed to leave the Gaudio Awards HQ.

We check the finishes, structural integrity, personalisation accuracy, and overall presentation of the award to ensure it meets our high quality standards and your original trophy vision. Because when your trophy is handed to the winner, it represents your brand as much as their success! We then carefully package your trophies for delivery, ensuring they arrive event-ready and worthy of the stage.

Inside the Gaudio Awards 3D Printed Trophy Cabinet

Over the years, we’ve been proud to create some truly innovative awards that demonstrate just how powerful 3D printing can be. Here are some of our favourites:

Aquatics GB Awards

Manufactured for Aquatics GB, we crafted these custom 3D printed trophies to stand shoulder to shoulder with an impressive collection of Olympic and Paralympic medals. Each award was finished in a striking premium gloss and enhanced with vibrant printed acrylic detailing to maintain a bold, unified look across the entire series.

European Rally Championship Award

Created for the European Rally Championship, we modelled a detailed 3D tyre to match the tread of a specific racing tyre, turning the tread blocks and grooves into a striking, tactile feature. We then finished each piece with a subtle gloss black top to ensure they looked as impressive on stage as they do up close.

Coca-Cola Europacific Cup

For the Coca-Cola Europacific Cup trophies, we combined 3D printed resin with solid aluminium to achieve fine detail and an impressive finish. Each trophy stands at almost 40cm tall and recreates the iconic Coca-Cola bottle, complete with gold accents, a 3D printed label, and a bottlecap.

FAQs – Debunking the Myths Around 3D Printed Trophies

Are 3D printed trophies expensive?

3D printed trophies are a premium solution, with the price reflecting the creativity and expertise involved in crafting them. However, we offer competitive pricing structures, volume price breaks, and stock holding options; making these awards more accessible for all budgets.

Are 3D printed trophies wasteful?

Temporary supports are required during the 3D printing process which use a small amount of additional material, but there are no “offcuts” like you see in traditional manufacturing. Each material is used efficiently, making for a more responsible production process.

Are 3D printed trophies low quality?

No, 3D printed trophies are not low quality when crafted correctly. Our finishing, refinement, and quality control processes elevate every 3D printed trophy we create to a premium standard, resulting in a showstopping award that’s robust, weighty, and built to impress.

Blank

When you order a blank trophy, it will arrive without any personalised details. The trophy is blank for you to add your own personalisation, or use as a decorative piece.

Engraved

Engraving etches your design into the surface of the trophy.

Printed

Print is colour-matched. Based on variations in computer and screen settings, and manufacturing tolerances, colours may appear differently to what you see on screen.

Personalise Online

Select your layout using the dropdown menu, then enter your details. The live proof shows you an approximate visual of how your trophy will look when it’s engraved. Once you’ve added the details you want and purchased your trophy, we’ll begin manufacture right away.

Please note: The live render is an estimate of how your trophy will look, and the final result may vary in size, colour and placement.

Gaudio Proofing Service

With the Gaudio Proofing Service, simply add your chosen trophy to your cart and checkout as normal. A member of the team will be in touch to collect the required details, and we’ll send you proofs to approve before manufacture. Delivery time excludes proofing.
