Bespoke trophies for extraordinary moments
Bespoke TrophiesIChemE Frank Morton Sports Day 2018

IChemE have engineered another successful Frank Morton Sports Day, hosted this year at the University of Leeds.
To kick off, students got stuck in, and sucked in, fighting for the top spot in the I’m A Chemical Engineer, Get Me Out of Here! bush tucker trials.

The event saw students from universities up and down the country compete in a day full of exciting events, from dodge ball and badminton, to a Best T-Shirt Competition.

The IChemE trophy is a familiar one here at Gaudio; a classic polished aluminium halo with glass-effect acrylic. This year, however, IChemE came to us with something a little different. Not only was the halo going to be bigger than ever, it would be accompanied by smaller acrylic awards as trophies for the day.
The Frank Morton Sports Day isn’t just any sports day, it’s an opportunity for chemical engineering students from universities across the UK to swap the safety goggles for shin pads and take on their peers in a day of sporting events.
The event was founded by Professor Frank Morton in 1961, who organised a football match between the Chemical Engineering departments at Birmingham University, and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. The historical event is now in its 57th year of combining sports and science in a day of friendly competition.
The University of Leeds won the hosting bid this year, succeeding last year’s hosts, Loughborough University.
ENGINEERING THE PERFECT AWARD
Matching awards are a fantastic way to deliver recognition and share achievement with winners and finalists.
Our team kept it simple when designing these corresponding awards, utilising our in-house printing facilities to create two pieces with the same branding; a clean and compelling solution.

The classic aluminium halo looks great with glass-effect acrylic – a robust and cost-effective alternative to real glass. Perfect for printing, glass-effect acrylic achieves the same crisp look. The halo itself, finished in polished aluminium, has ample space at the base for further details to be engraved. The halo award is an impressive piece to display at any event.

The IChemE Frank Morton branding lets itself to a design that isn’t heavy-handed, ideal for the accompanying free-standing acrylic tablets.
These awards have all the right elements, and the efforts of students on this memorable day was the catalyst for an excellent event.
