A custom 3D-printed trophy begins with a digital model of the award. It helps us understand the structure of the component, as well as its weight and dimensions. At this stage, we can add any necessary structural support and make design changes. Once the model is finalised, the file is sent to our 3D printer, where it begins to take shape.
3D-printed trophies are a sturdy option that remain detail-oriented, offering intricate design elements and shapes that can’t be achieved through other manufacturing processes. Once the resin model is complete, it’s cured, set, and finished. The team hand finish each component, ensuring edges are smooth and the surface is ready for colour.
For the Rallycross awards, we added colour using a silk finish black paint. Giving a premium look, and a shower-resistant finish, it means the trophy can be presented in rain or shine – a key feature for an outdoor event!
The entire piece is fixed to a solid tiered aluminium base, boasting a shiny mirror-polish finish, and a curved name plate complete with the WRC logo, recipient placement, and classification.
Finally, this 3d-printed trophy is finished with acrylic detail. Combining materials lets us highlight these important areas; the numbers one, two, and three sit on the front of the award, created using layers of black and colour acrylic. Orange, navy and white define each standing, and this use of colour is mirrored on the top of the award where the WRC logo also features layered acrylic detail.
Packed and protected in a custom case, the final awards shipped to events across the globe.
This years’ WRC Rally season has seen some jaw-dropping moments and stand-out performances, and concludes in October with the Central European Rally.
