The One Show BBC NHS Patients Awards
The BBC have launched the BBC NHS Patients Awards, featured on The One Show.
They celebrate 5 categories, recognising all areas of the NHS, from the Lifetime Achievement Award, to the Unsung Hero Award. The awards are ‘about finding people who are representative of the range and amazing inspirational work that happens all across the NHS’.
While it may look realistic, this is a digital render we created of the NHS Patients Awards.
A render is a vital part of the awards process, and it lets us show the client what their award will look like. Having a visual aid helps us communicate ideas with clients and means we can make any changes. Our design manager, Stuart, designed this award. He had this to say about the process:
“This was a great project to work on. The client had a really clear vision and we used our expertise to recommend materials and design changes to suit a television environment. Together we designed an amazing award for truly deserving recipients.”
Once the design is finalised, the production team can start.
Behind the scenes at Gaudio
We have a range of in-house production facilities at Gaudio. Each step has strict quality control for an immaculate Gaudio finish.
We milled out the letters from high-quality aluminium. Once we polish and finish the letters in-house, they’re ready for assembly!
For the acrylic letters, we need to use our UV printer, which can colour-match thousands of colours and shades. Not only is printing accurate and crystal-clear, it was necessary for a television environment, so the award was visible under studio lights. There’s no waiting until these letters are dry – UV Printing dries instantly.
Laser engraving onto metal is an elegant option for detail. Whether it’s text or a logo, we can laser engrave intricate designs.
Here they are – on the final assembly line! Ready for delivery directly to the BBC. The awards sit on a tiered base, with red acrylic detail. The acrylic matches the BBC and The One Show’s branding. The ‘Thank You’ logo is the focal point of these awards; a message not only for the winners, but for all the nominees.
Finally, here is Shaan Ali holding one of the awards. Shaan was one of the judges for the Children and Young People’s Care Award. These are, without a doubt, one of our favourite awards!
